Description Description
️ Because it really, truly is — welcome to Life's a Beach, a newly decorated and refreshed beach cottage on beautiful Wightman Lane in Captiva Village that perfectly captures the joy, color, and easy magic of island living. ☀️ From the masterwork tropical garden to the covered hot tub, the skylights to the vibrant pergola-adorned outdoor spaces, Life's a Beach is a vacation home that makes you smile from the moment you arrive.

Wightman Lane is one of Captiva Island's most desirable village addresses — quiet, sandy, and lined with tropical beauty, yet steps from the warm Gulf of Mexico waters and a short stroll from the island's best dining, shopping, and outdoor adventures. The Captiva Village restaurants, the Island Store, and all the island fun are within easy walking distance.

The grounds at Life's a Beach are a true work of art — a masterfully landscaped tropical garden bursting with flowering shrubs, potted plants, soaring palms, and massive shade trees. Pergola and trellis structures painted in bright, cheerful colors frame the outdoor spaces, while dense privacy hedges create a lush green sanctuary all around. There's a large front sundeck, a picnic area, and a back deck that wraps around the house.

The private covered hot tub in the beautifully landscaped backyard is a highlight — perfect for an evening soak under the stars after a long, glorious day at the beach. A gas grill and outdoor dining table make alfresco meals an everyday pleasure.

️ Three bedrooms accommodate up to 8 guests: the primary king en-suite bedroom opens via sliding doors onto the back deck and features a walk-in closet and flat-screen TV. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third offers a full bed with twin bunk and twin trundle — ideal for families with children. Two full bathrooms serve the home.

Inside, skylights and high ceilings bathe the living room and kitchen in natural light. The kitchen is compact but fully functional and well-equipped — a Keurig, full cookware, and everything for easy island cooking. Central A/C, WiFi, linens, beach towels, and beach chairs/umbrellas are included.

Life's a Beach truly lives up to its name: colorful, joyful, and full of life. This is the Captiva vacation cottage you'll dream about all year and return to every chance you get.

Great time!
We love Life's a Beach! This is our sixth year vacationing there. The home is beautiful, lovely decorations and landscaping. It's in a convenient location, close to restaurants and only a block from the beach. Plus, it's a short drive to the Sanibel beaches, CROW, Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Library, and so much more! The vacation rental management staff responds quickly when there are any concerns and are very helpful.

life's a beach
"Life's a Beach" was a perfect beach cottage for our family getaway to Captiva. We loved the vegetation around the house and the close proximity to the beach! Would definitely stay there again.

Relax by the beach all day!
WOW! What an amazing stay! It was perfect for my family. A short walk to watch the sunrise every morning with your coffee then a short walk to the beach to relax, read, shell hunt, grab a cocktail and apps and walk along the beach. The home is in a absolute perfect location on Captiva. I love the many options of restaurants within walking distance ( Key Lime Bistro is my favorite). The hot tub to relax in at night is fantastic and the center island in the kitchen to conversate around about the plans for the next day is great. I will come back year after year! Thank you for being a great host!

Excellent vacation rental
We had an excellent stay and found the cottage very comfortable, clean and efficient with nice privacy in spite of the closeness of adjacent houses. The beach was just a couple of minutes away. Would rent this home again anytime. The sliding kitchen door needs repair as it sticks and comes off the track.

Wonderful Week at Life's a Beach
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent week in Florida. The house was lovely and better than described on your website. It's convenience to the Captiva shopping area and beach is great. The house was clean and had all the required amenities. Even though the ice maker in the frig wasn't working our call to maintenance was promptly responded to and bags of ice were quickly delivered.
We would not hesitate to rent this property again. The only negative thing to say about our week was that we wish it could have been 2 weeks.

Life's a Beach is the Bomb!!
This rental was a beautiful surprise. I knew from the map we would have a great location. But to actually be here and walk in a few minutes to dinner, to the general store, to the beach was so convenient! I definitely got my steps in to allow for the extra hand-dipped ice cream, or the dinner and margaritas. The house was immaculate and perfect for our group! Sunny and bright during the day. Lots of lighting during the evening. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! And I highly recommend this location and house!!

Wonderful time at an idyllic vacation spot. Really like the kitchen updates. Master bath needs some work still but an overall wonderful time.

Another Great Stay!
This was our third stay at Life's A Beach and we had an excellent time once again. We had an issue with a neighbouring property and the management company was great to deal with. One improvement I would make it to replace the back sliding door. It's a real pain! But obviously a very minor thing.
You are 10 houses from the beach and very close to town. We walked all over and didn't use our car once. Bliss.

Great Time in Captiva
Need anti-slip pads in the tub. Sliding door is very hard to open.
The vacation at Life’s a Beach is very relaxing, excellent location to eating, drinking, shopping and an incredible beach. We would not trade this for anywhere else.

Island Paradise Vacation
Life's a Beach was a delightful place to unwind in this season of life. It is close in proximity to so many activities. With it being a cooler week, we were able to enjoy canoeing at Myakka State Park (alligators swimming just feet away), kayaking at Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve, Captiva Sunset Cruise (spotted many dolphins playing), as well as a historical walking tour of Captiva. There are so many things to do and the location of this place is unbeatable, with several restaurants within a five minute walk (live music and great food). Life's a Beach is just steps away from the beautiful beach, where we enjoyed shelling, watching sunsets and soaking up the sun (on the warm days). If anything came up, there was an immediate response from the company. Caleb and Stephanie were great hosts and also a delight to meet!

Family Vacation
We stayed for a week at Life’s a Beach with family including 6 adults and 3 young children. Location was great for access to shops, food, beach, etc. The house was clean and had amenities as indicated on the website. We have an awesome stay and would absolutely stay here again. Property is very pretty and the pictures don’t really do it justice. Outdoor shower was a life saver for keeping sand out of the house and the hot tub was a wonderful place to relax after the kids went to bed - albeit, it did take a few hours for the tub to get hot before our first use. We did have a brief issue with the door lock, but it was fixed quickly and without question. Would recommend to anyone.

Capriva and American Realty are stronger than ever
Over the past 32 years I have rented exclusively with American Realty on Captiva. I have stayed in multiple residences from the most expensive to the more moderate, but they all had one thing in common. They were spotless, meticulously maintained, and supported by an outstanding management staff of Lisa, Albert and Alan, who are the top professionals on the island My current stay at Life's A Beach was extremely relaxing and restful Thank you Lisa, Albert and Alan for another perfect vacation. Five Stars plus.

Tom's and Natalie's Life's a Beach Week
This was our 3rd time staying at Life's a Beach. We love the house and the location is perfect. Walking distance to everything. Unfortunately, due to a conflict in 2022, we are unable to visit, but are hoping to return to Life's a Beach the first week in May, 2023. Thanks so much for a great stay!

Great little place
This was a last minute rental when another condo proved to be unacceptable. We were delighted that American realty had something available. It turned out to be better than we had hoped for. It was small but very comfortable for four adults. It was clean and well equipped and very convenient. It had plenty of space to park two cars and despite being surrounded by other buildings it was very private and quiet. The address in this review says AL. It should be IA for Iowa

LISA & AMERICAN REALTY ARE THE BEST ON CAPTIVA!!!!
The best part of coming to Captiva is working with Lisa at American Realty. We've been working together for MANY years and she knows my likes and needs and always surpasses my expectations. We usually stay at another property but that property hasn't been rebuilt since the last hurricane so Lisa chose this one. It was lovely and we couldn't believe she had it ready so soon after Milton hit that entire area. She's a miracle worker. If you're visiting Captiva, you should rent from American Realty!!!!

What a great vacation house.
Life's a Beach is a charming, comfortable house on a sandy road that ends at a path through the dunes to the beach--what could be better? My only complaints are 1) Most doors and windows have no screens; it would be nice to have the option to leave them open to evening ocean breezes instead of using air conditioning all the time. And 2) Why only one roll of toilet paper per bathroom? And the general store around the corner was out, so we had no way to replenish. And throw in an extra roll of paper towels too. Not an unreasonable request given the price of the rental.

Good vacation on Captiva Island!
The house was very comfortable for my family. Access to the beach was very good. The bedding linens need improvement. The pillows and bed spreads had a very unpleasant body odor. The sheets are tissue paper thin and need replacement.

A wonderful beach hideaway
This little cottage is a great beach spot. It's clean; it has all new appliances; it has very nice new beach equipment; and central heating (which we needed due to a cold snap). The management company was very helpful and professional. Highly recommit!

Life’s A Beach October 2020
Our Life’s A Beach stay in October was great. The location was perfect, within a short walk to the beach, restaurants, groceries, and marinas.
The house was very clean and mostly in good condition. We had 4 adults in our party, and our only complaint was having adequate hot water. Expect to take short showers The water temp was just warm enough to shower
We would consider staying again, mostly because of the location

Disappointing & Unacceptable Experience for Annual Vacationers
It is with great disappointment that I write this review. I & my lifelong friend booked this trip in May 2020. We're both RN's and this is my 42nd year working. I worked thru Covid-19 in spite of being given a terminal diagnosis right prior to booking this trip. My friend lost her husband in April so this was possibly my last time to do this together with her (I live in NM and she lives in Fl) I have been the CNO at 3-hospitals and have had very nice accommodations when I traveled. As CNO Customer Service is very important.
For 13-years we have came to Captiva with our spouses and always stayed at Tween Waters. After speaking with the owner, Christina Zeller, we were very excited to come based on her professionalism and description of the rental. However, the home had numerous unacceptable and substandard conditions (especially for the cost) it was a frustrating and negative experience. We decided not to call the Realty as there were so many repairs needed it could eat up much of our vacation to get them fixed.
To name just a few of our concerns:
***Several times/day every day, the sliding glass door came off of its track and was very difficult to get back on
***Sliding glass door remained unlocked d/t the one locking apparatus was bent so it wouldn't connect (not safe for rentals)
***Umbrella on outside dining table was beyond disgusting with heavy growth of mold--also a health hazard esp. with asthmatics
**BBQ grill didn't work on 1/2 of grill
***Outside lights leading up to the front door were lying outside of the ground and stayed unlit (safety hazard for renters after dark)
***One roll of toilet tissue in each bathroom for our 13-night stay
