Description Description
From the moment you arrive at Laika House, you'll understand why this beautiful vacation home on legendary Laika Lane is one of the most beloved properties on Captiva Island. ☀️ A non-smoking private retreat steps from the Gulf of Mexico beach, Laika House combines soaring cathedral ceilings, a private heated pool, and that effortlessly warm island atmosphere that makes every vacation here feel like home.

Laika Lane is one of Captiva's most desirable addresses — a quiet, lush, tropical lane tucked in the heart of Captiva Village, steps from the beach and a short stroll from the island's finest restaurants, boutiques, and outdoor adventures. Whether you're grabbing a paddleboard at the marina, dining at the world-famous Mucky Duck, or simply following the sandy path to the beach, everything you could want is right outside your door.

️ The great room at Laika House is its showstopper — dramatic cathedral ceilings soar overhead, flooding the space with natural light and creating an airy, open feeling that perfectly captures the spirit of island living. It's the kind of room where morning coffee feels magical and evening gatherings become memories.

️ Four beautifully furnished bedrooms — two kings, a queen, and a twin/full bunk bed — sleep up to 8 guests across 2.5 bathrooms (two full baths plus a convenient half bath off the pool deck). Each bedroom offers comfort and privacy, with ample closet space and quality furnishings throughout.

The private heated pool is your personal outdoor sanctuary — sparkling, warm, and surrounded by lush tropical plantings that create a truly private retreat. The half bath off the pool deck is a thoughtful touch that keeps the fun going without interrupting anyone's swim. Fire up the grill for a poolside barbecue, or grab your beach chairs and head to the sand — it's all just steps away.

A full kitchen with Keurig, full cookware, and all the essentials makes in-home dining easy and enjoyable. Central A/C, WiFi, linens, beach towels, washer/dryer, and beach chairs/umbrellas are all included. This is a non-smoking property maintained to the highest standards.

Laika House is perfect for families, friend groups, or multi-couple getaways who want a spacious, comfortable base for an unforgettable Captiva Island experience.

Another Great Week at Laika House
This is our third time staying at Laika House. New owners have bought the house and made some nice changes. Beautiful artwork, great beds, and nice furniture add nicely to the Captiva experience. The location is perfect, the pool is fantastic, and all beach items really made our stay very enjoyable. If we come back to Captiva, we will book Laika!

Fun week
Great week in captiva, house is close to beach easy to walk. House needs some updates, its showing age. Not bad but still. Pool heater didnt work either and patio area is kinda grimy. House has nice space and nice kitchen.

Captiva Retreat
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at Laika House. The location was perfect for both getting to the beach and to "Downtown Captiva". The home was just the right size for our group and the amenities met all of our needs. We used the heated pool daily for which it got plenty of sun and shade. Would recommend this home for your next vacation.

Laika Time
Laika House was the perfect retreat for us. We always enjoy Captiva - park the car and walk everywhere. Laika House is in a perfect spot for beach, restaurants, shops and we enjoyed the pool, a lot!! We would like to add that the staff with American Rental were amazing. When we were packed and ready to leave on the Sat. our car died in the driveway. Nice staff at the office understood and said we could stay in the cool until AAA came. Then Fernando? (not sure correct name) arrived and immediately took off to get his pickup - jumped started our car and off we went. That was way above the call of duty and we were VERY grateful. Great employees are not that easy to find - your organization has some very god ones.

An Amazing Vacation!
We recently stayed at Laika House over the Christmas holiday. It was perfect for our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 kids)....clean, comfortable and not too fussy. The house is on a quiet dirt lane nestled on a wooded lot. We especially loved that it was only a hundred yards to the beach. The pool was amazingly warm and relaxing at the end of a busy day. We could easily walk to nearby restaurants and shops. The deck off the front of the house provided a nice sunny place to sit and play with the kids. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others- particularly for families with young kids. Only suggestion we have is to provide renters with more details about what’s available at the house. Real estate company said they didn’t have that info, so we brought beach chairs, umbrellas, and pool/sand toys with us from home when we didn’t need to. Also, would have loved an informational sheet at the house with WiFi code, trash pick up days, TV operations, etc. We look forward to future vacations on Captiva and will stay at the Laika House again.

Perfect Beach Getaway
The house is a perfect place for our little family to stay. Just steps from the beach, and also so close to everything in downtown Captiva. The electricity went out for a moment and the realty company was incredibly responsive and was there within minutes! The house is perfect size and heated pool is delightful.

Thanksgiving Holiday
We rented this house for our family to enjoy the holiday. So glad we did. The management did not harass us or anything. I had heard horror stories about some of them but American Realty was awesome. We did not experience any problems with the is older and could certainly use some TLC in places but that is to be expected. The house was very clean and the pool area was great and in very good working condition. We would certainly rent from American Realty Group again.

The house was more than adequate for our stay. Very clean and well equipped. The pool was great and the house was just a short walk at the end of the lane.
Enjoyed our stay.

Laika House was perfect for our group.....
Laika House was perfect for our group of 3 adults and 3 kids. Short walk to the beautiful beach, great pool for all to play in. Quick response to our service request. Close to Boops by The Bubble Room where we enjoyed coffee, ice cream & desserts several times during our stay. Captiva Island Pizza was quick and delicious as was the Shell City Burger Truck. Wonderful experience with Captain Brian on the Water! So fun to see the island and nature from the water. Multiple trips to JN Ding Darling Natl Wildlife Refuge for birding and their lovely Nature Center and a fun educational trip through the park on the Wildlife Refuge Tram Tour. Happy to see Captiva Strong!

Lovely experience after long absence from Captiva Island
The house was in a great location walkable to the beach a few houses down. We walked to shops and also to the Bubble Room that reopened in July. We were a family of eight, two kids three and five and the room situation worked out perfectly for our family and grandchildren. Could use a wagon but managed with one bought by family. My suggestion would be to have a few more supplies in the house as just S and P in the kitchen makes for lots of groceries and simple cleaning supplies, nothing there to spray to wipe a counter or glass top table besides a sponge or paper towels

Home Away from Home.
We love Laika House. This is our second time staying and hope we are able to select Laika House for years to come. With three little ones, the beach is only appealing for a day or two. Laika’s pool though, is always in demand:) We are hoping to learn how to access the half bath off of the pool so that we aren’t taking water and dirt through the home when swimming. That’s the only opportunity we can offer!! Thank you!!

Late July Family Vaca
We have stayed in Captiva pre Ian many times but not stayed on Laika Lane. Laika House was perfect size for my family. Pool was fantastic (would have been great if we had access to the outdoor bathroom) property and home were clean and had all the amenities we needed for the week. The home itself needs a few fixes but certainly did not hinder our week. Short walk to beach for our early afternoon then back to enjoy the pool. Wagon needs replaced it is a bit rusted and made it more difficult to pull in the sand but had plenty of chairs and an umbrella to enjoy our beach time. We love Captiva and plan to return we hope the rebuild continues as we miss a lot of the shops and places to eat. But hands down enjoyed BOOP ice cream and RC OTTER food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend Laika House and American Reality is a pleasure to work with.

Perfect house for the family. Steps from the beach. Pool at the house. Deck and grill! Good space for everyone and kitchen has all you need. This house has so many good memories for our family. We have stayed in many houses on the island and this one is our fav! Its that type of beach house you feel at home in on vacation. Lisa and the crew at American Realty Group always go the extra mile to make us happy! Third stay in this house and booked it again for the next year!

Everything was great!
We had an awesome week! The rental management, house and location was all great. We’ve rented through American Reality of Captiva before and will again. We would stay at the Laika House again. FYI for anyone renting the Laika House: 1- Enjoy watching the Osprey nest just to the bay side of the pool in back. 2- Bring your own pool and beach things and basic things to cook and eat at home, such as salt/pepper, foil, coffee filters etc. The house is great but it is basic and bare bones.

Our 6th time here
I almost hesitate to give this home the 5 stars it deserves, for fear it’ll be booked next time. But that wouldn’t be fair. It’s the warm private pool, the lush landscaping, the old Florida vibe of the lane, and the short walk to the beach that bring us back. Spotless, too, and everything works. American Realty is also easy to work with. We love it here.

Laika House Happy
We were very happy with our Laika House rental. The home is as described, comfortable and well-supplied. Our primary reason for visiting was shelling the Captiva and Sanibel beaches, as well as a Ten Thousand Islands shelling trip. We also toured CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) and ate at some fantastic area restaurants, Sanibel Grill, Doc Ford's Captiva, Rosie's, Over Easy, Island Cow, Mudbugs among them. The only dissatisfaction we had was learning of the significant rental cost increase for the same week next year, from base price of $2,000 to $3,200.

Great location, Roomy, Clean, and Private
The house, pool, and location was fantastic. Very close to beach, bayside, restaurants and local shopping, walking distance. The house and property was very clean and we had plenty of room. The manager, Albert was extremely helpful and provided great customer service. We were expecting a TV in the queen room and when we arrived, there was not one. We called Albert and he was there the next day with a TV and a smile. He also brought along some needed beach chairs even though the property does not supply them. The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of pots and pans and cooking utensils. The pool area was awesome and having a bathroom by the pool area was very convenient along with the outdoor shower, which was huge. We would definitely recommend this house and cake from the Bubble Room is a must.

Nice property, a little lacking in maintenance.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Laika House. The location is great, convenient to the beach. The home was very clean, and well equipped, kitchen-wise. Several disappointments however: first, there was no Information binder or placard to provide specifics on trash, wiFi password, rules and regs, etc. One was supposed to be dropped off by the management company but never was. We actually found it by accident in the kitchen cabinet above the microwave two days later.
A number of light bulbs were either burnt out or missing : stove cooktop, kitchen ceiling fan, master bath vanity. Also, the coffee maker had a used coffee filter full of coffee grounds left in the machine, and the coffee pot itself had to be soaked for several hours to get it clean. Not what should be found by incoming renters. Ice maker was not functioning, and only two small ice cube trays were provided, and one was cracked and split and non-functional. We actually bought three more trays and left them for the next renters.
Overall we were satisfied with our stay, but paying better attention to simple maintenance items such as those above would have turned the Four Star into a Five Star.
