Captiva Star

We had a wonderful stay at the Captiva Star home for a week in July.
The home was very nice with it’s large screened porch. The kitchen and living room were nicely decorated. The 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms were accommodating for our large family. There were 2 washers and dryers. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The location was excellent. It took only a few minutes to walk to the beach and restaurants. There was a wagon, umbrellas and sand toys to take to the beach. I would recommend this home. We had a great time!

We have enjoyed Open Breeze/now Captiva Star for 17 consecutive years.
It is a grand house with EVERYTHING needed for a really fine and enjoyable family vacation.
We have recommended the property to friends for years and will continue to do so.
We feel improvements should be made to the beach chairs and the pool lounges and chairs.
The American Realty folks are always there to assist us on any needs and or complaints.

We spent the week at Captiva Star with our kids, their spouses, and our grandkids. For some it was their first visit to Captiva, and after the week ended, all want to return. The house was perfect for our large family. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch which was great on the days it rained. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the unexpected amenities were great - plenty of pool toys, beach chairs, umbrella, and a wagon to haul everything to the beach. We made two calls with concerns. One for a portable crib which was listed in the rental description, and the other was for maintenance to repair the downstairs refrigerator. Both issues were resolved quickly. The location of Captiva Star is perfect, and we liked being in a quiet street to walk to and from the beach. Overall we had a wonderful vacation and would recommend this property for those with large families that want to stay together in one location. From the time we rented and through our stay, American Realty was very responsive to all ou needs.

This is a huge house in an ideal location for taking it easy on the island. It is well maintained, has plenty of sleeping space and a nice pool. The large screened in porch was perfect for evenings with family. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in a convenient, yet quiet location in the heart of Captiva.

While our count might be off a year or two, this was about our 20th year renting this home.
It is absolutely perfect for our family and I can assure you our son and daughter and grand children are thrilled each year to share a week with us in this beautiful home.
Thanks to American Realty for calling the owner to get permission to properly hook up/repair all of the TV's. Albert was wonderful and answered all of our requests.
Thanks to American Realty as well for changing our specific weeks of rental to accommodate our grandchildren's school breaktime which changes sometimes from year to year.

We have vacationed in this rental property for approximately 20 years. We obviously love the property!
The overall maintenance, furniture (new mattresses this year were very comfortable) and overall cleanliness were satisfactory.
Two things need to be addressed:
(1) For the second year in a row the grill was very low on gas and we had to again call for service. While on the property the service man "indicated" we had not turned on the equipment properly. PLEASE!
Secondly, the tiled second floor porch outside the office has not been swept for some time.
The debris is NOT recent blow on from the trees and other elements.

My entire family aged 4 to 73 enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home! There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax! The house was one of the best homes we’ve ever rented with extra amenities. The closeness to the beach and restaurants made it an ideal location for a summer vacation!

My friends and family spent the month of February enjoying a wonderful month in the awesome vacation home Captiva Star. The house was very clean. It has a unique layout with 2 master suites and 3 more bedrooms. The open living & dining area, & kitchen make cooking and dining together a fun time. Our group had a Super Bowl party and 2 shrimp boils and numerous meals together. The house is so convenient to the great restaurants in Captiva. We were steps away from Captiva Cantina and the Bubble Room. We went to the beach almost every day. It is a short walk from the house and the wagon at the house held all our beach chairs, umbrellas & supplies. After hanging out at the beach for a few hours, we would go back to the house and spend the rest of the afternoon in the pool & hot tub. The tropical plants and flowers are so beautiful and sitting on the screened in front porch of the house was one of our favorite past times. The house isn’t new, but it has so much character. I would recommend Captiva Star and American Realty Group of Captiva to any family or group wanting to stay in a
beautiful tropical paradise.

Home is clean with a fully stocked kitchen. We loved the salt water pool and hot tub. Front porch is awesome! Short walk to the beach! Albert and his staff were responsive and incredible to a few small requests we had. Our family always has an excellent experience working with American Reality.

Wonderfully comfortable accommodations with lots of room for gathering and relaxing. The kitchen had every amenity would could have asked for! Just great all around. Very spacious house with nice furniture, a lovely front porch and a nice salt water pool. Our little guy enjoyed finding all the frog painting on the stairs. Everyone had a great time.

We were an extended family of 12 ages 10-71. There was plenty of space for everyone. We loved the spacious outdoor screened in porch for early morning and evening breezes. Great location in the village, yet close to the beach. Property was as described. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and pool. The pool water did not seem to be heated, but it could have been user error on trying to heat the hot tub/pool at the same time. Only thing I would recommend would be maybe some updates to the bathrooms. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a large home with plenty of room for family, high ceilings, nice pool and a wonderful location. It is absolutely a perfect place for a large group...if the owners/rental company take care of it. It seemed like everywhere we looked something was broken. I spent the first two days of our vacation contacting the rental company to fix things, they would send someone out, and said thing would be broken again within 12 hours. Eventually I gave up, as we are mid renovation at our actual home and the last thing I wanted to do on vacation is deal with contractors.

Most frustrating was the master bedroom toilet. It did not flush. They sent two different people to fix it, and it broke again an hour later. The plumber they eventually sent said the toilet was imporperly installed and really needed to be gutted, but he would do his best. We had to take the tank lid off to manually flush it the whole of our vacation; absolutely unacceptable when paying over $8000 for a vacation rental.

Other issues- water pressure upstairs was non existent, bathtub leaked down the wall in the home, many light switches were physically broken with no switch, bottoms of kitchen drawers falling out, no locks in master bedroom, I could go on. Also expect no seasonings of any kind, including salt and pepper. Also they probably should have disclosed the constant construction of a new building directly behind the property. We understand Captiva is still healing, but hammering directly next to your window from 7am-6pm daily does not a relaxing vacation make.

Worth mentioning, when we arrived (4pm check in) there was a pile of dirty sheets on the bed. Housekeeping had not finished from prior guests. They came back to finish around 6pm that night with no warning. Another interruption in our expensive vacation.

A little love would go a long way. Ultimately felt ripped off. We've been coming to Captiva annually for 7 years. I'd only stay here again if
